Safety & Participation
TAKING PART
The Listening Project consists of individual conversations with adult horse owners and riders.
Conversations may take place at a yard, beside a stable, in another suitable area around the horses, by phone or online.
Where we meet around horses, normal yard awareness and good judgement apply throughout.
AROUND HORSES
Participants remain responsible for the normal care, handling and management of their own horse and for choosing a suitable place for the conversation.
Where a horse is present, the conversation can pause or move if the horse, the environment or activity around us makes that appropriate.
CLOTHING AND FOOTWEAR
When meeting at a yard, participants are expected to wear clothing and footwear appropriate to the environment and to the normal activities taking place around horses.
CHILDREN AT YARDS
The Listening Project is for adults aged 18 and over.
Children may sometimes be present as part of normal yard life or may accompany a participant. Parents and guardians remain responsible for children in their care throughout the visit.
CHANGES TO ARRANGEMENTS
Weather, yard activity, the horse’s wellbeing or other practical circumstances may occasionally affect where or how the conversation takes place.
An alternative time, location or way of continuing the conversation can be agreed where needed.
